  • What are your business hours?

Our operating hours are Monday to Friday 9:30am - 5:30pm.

  • What is planning permission?

This is the formal process of applying to the local council to ascertain if your proposals are acceptable based on consideration of a wide variety of local and national factors.

  • What is building regulations?

Building regulations concerns the actual construction of new developments. The building regulations ensure that work is safe and compliant with national legislation.

  • Will my plans be approved?

We can never offer any guarantee that any applications will be approved. However, our extensive experience of dealing with the local planning departments together with an in depth knowledge of their planning policies allows us to provide you with a professional opinion on the likelihood of your ideas being acceptable. We do not normally carry out work that we do not feel has a high liklihood of approval, and in cases where we are asked to do work unlikely to be approved this is communicated clearly to the client at the outset.

  • Do I need permission?

This is a complex area of planning legislation, and depends on your site location; size, use and location of new proposals; together with the surrounding layout and use of land. We can only advise if plans seem reasonable on a case by case basis by contacting us.

  • How long will things take?

This very much depends on the scale of the proposed project. We usually endeavour to have first draft plans ready within 1-6 weeks depending on the nature of the project and current work commitments. If multiple revisions are required following production of designs this will add a small delay to the submission of the drawings to the local planning authority. Once these are received most applications take around 8-10 weeks for the council to reach a decision on where planning permission is required. Most structural work will also require building regulations consent and therefore an addition 3-6 weeks should be allowed for this process after planning approval.

  • Do you submit the planning application too?

Our professional fee includes at no additional charge the submission, by us, of your completed planning application to the local planning authority. We will oversee the planning application's progress as your agent and we will be the council's primary contact for any questions or queries.

  • Can I visit the office to discuss my ideas?

Due to the nature of our work, the best person to speak to is sometimes away from the office therefore we only accept pre-booked face to face appointments at our office. However, you can call us or email us to book a free meeting where you will be made welcome.

  • Is it possible to speak to Mr. Dixon?

Although the business was originally started by some members of the Dixon family the company is no longer operated by them. One member of the Dixon familly is still trading in Bridlington, but they are separate to us and we cannot advise on their availability.

  • Where is your office?

We are located at ground floor level on King Street, in the heart of Bridlington. Our neighbours are the Natwest Bank to the west, and Murray Hills Solicitors to the East. Opposite our office is the large Boyes department store.

  • Where can I get parked?

There is a limited number of parking spaces within 100 yards of our office, these include parking spaces infront of and adjacent to the Brunswick Hotel, on North Street, and Marshall Avenue. There are also public parking spaces on Queen Street to the rear of our office.

Please note: If you have booked an extended meeting  extending over 1 hour you will need to ask us for a free parking permit where you will be able to remain parked unrestricted.
